This page serves as a collection of information on the instruments I use in performance. Eventually it will act as a showcase for my homebuilt instruments, but those are a while off yet.
Currently I play Gronitz horns, the PF-125 F tuba and the PCK CC tuba. They are remarkably similar in feel and response, the obvious differences between a large F and a 6/4 CC notwithstanding. I use a Yamaha Roger Bobo Solo mouthpiece on the F and a J&S Helleberg Heavy Wall mouthpiece on the CC. The latter is subject to change soon, as the heavy wall piece is great for orchestral work and little else. I'll most likely be moving to a slightly smaller cup, possibly the Roger Bobo Symphonic model.
I've come to regard my mutes as instruments as well, a result of my work with PFR. I currently use Humes & Berg mutes, a large Straight on the CC and a Small Symphonic Aluminum on the F. Swapped around, of course, they make for insteresting results. Especially when turned upside down! I'm planning to build some mutes of my own, so those will show up here as well.
